Everything you need to know about designing a bespoke kitchen

Based in the heart of Fulham, here at Hi-Spec Design we specialise in helping clients achieve their dream homes, especially when it comes to bespoke kitchens. With clients across the UK and Europe, and a lot of kitchens later, we know a thing or two about creating the perfect luxury kitchen.

This guide will give you all the information you need to know about why a bespoke kitchen is a brilliant addition to your home, how to know if it’s the right decision for you, and some things you should think about before making your decision. We’ll cover everything from costs to brands, but if you’d like more information, don’t hesitate to contact us to find out more.

What are the benefits of having a bespoke kitchen?

Sizing
One of the first things that come to mind when designing a bespoke kitchen is that you’re able to scale the kitchen in whatever way best suits your home. Whether you have a large space with rounded walls or you have a small kitchen, you can design an area that is going to be both practical, and quite literally be a perfect fit for your home. Bespoke kitchens can be flexible and are built around your home, rather than the other way around.

Details
With a bespoke kitchen, you’re able to add all the tiny details that you both want and need, this can be practical as well as for design purposes. Have you ever had something exactly in mind that you want, but you’re not able to find it anywhere? With a bespoke kitchen, you can create a space that is perfect for you.

Budgets
Like anything, sticking within a budget is extremely important. Housing and design projects are notorious for going over budgets so it’s important to plan as much as possible. It’s also extremely helpful to have an overflow budget to cover any unexpected costs you may come across. Of course, how much you need to plan depends on the size of your interior design project. If you have multiple rooms you are working on, decipher an overall budget and then break this down into rooms. You’ll then be able to ensure that you’re not left with zero budget to finish the rest of your project.

Unique
Being able to design a space from start to finish, that is unique and perfectly fits your style really is something special. In a lot of homes, the kitchen is where you make some of your best memories. We love being able to take our clients on a journey of creativity and realisation of their needs. Whether you want a modern bespoke kitchen, or you’re after a classic styled space, you have the freedom to put your own stamp on your kitchen.

Quality
When designing a bespoke kitchen, one of the benefits is that you’re able to work with luxury brands that provide quality products which are durable over time, they’re made to be used and last. Due to the nature of bespoke kitchens, they’re made to fit each client and each home, therefore the products aren’t made in bulk, which means time can be spent by the brands to create high-quality luxury products. When it comes to installation our teams are very experienced and know the products extremely well having been trained for each and every appliance installation, so you can be sure you are in safe hands.

Things to think about before investing in a bespoke kitchen

Although we believe that a bespoke kitchen is a worthwhile investment, it’s important to plan and know as much information as possible before making your decision…

Take your time
A bespoke kitchen is something you’d ideally want to invest in if you plan to stay in your home for a long time. So take your time with the decision, is this a space you’re planning to spend years in, or do you think you’ll be moving again soon?
If you have made the decision to go ahead, then also take your time with the planning. Going back to the above point, this is something you’ll hopefully have for years to come, so you want to make sure this style is going to be practical, match your preferences, and won’t look dated quickly.

Be practical
Although you can fill the kitchen however you like, be practical with your decisions. You might really want a kitchen island, but if your space is too small, is this just going to be a burden in the future? Working with our skilled team, we are able to help you every step of the way and advice you on your decision. We are experienced in ensuring your vision can come to light, whilst also ensuring you won’t make any interior design blunders along the way.

Set a budget
Bespoke kitchens are not inexpensive, so it’s important you set yourself a budget. Know what you’re able to spend, and keep a pot aside for any unexpected costs or overspending you may entail during your bespoke kitchen journey. Again, when working with our kitchen specialists, they’ll be able to advise you on a realistic budget that will still enable you to have the kitchen of your dreams.

Get inspired ;
Now, you’ve decided to go ahead with your bespoke kitchen journey, you’ve set your budget and you’re ready to start planning, but where do you even begin? Time to get inspired. Get inspired through magazines, social media, friends and family, and shops. Basically, take inspiration from everywhere and anywhere until you’ve found the designs and styles that match your personality. Your interior designer will also be able to offer suggestions and examples throughout your experience to ensure you have the best options to choose from.

Costing
The cost of a bespoke kitchen can completely depend on the size and the products used. On average it could cost between £20,000 – £75,000. You can book an initial consultation here with us at Hi-Spec Design to find out more and enquire about the cost of the luxury bespoke kitchen.
