Sustainability with our brands

Sustainability is vital for the future of our planet and we know that people are continually opting for more eco-friendly products to implement into their everyday life. Here at Hi-Spec Design, we choose the brands and suppliers that we work with carefully, not only to ensure we are providing high-quality products to our customers but also to ensure we agree with the company’s values and ethics.

Below, we have listed just some of our kitchen appliance and furniture suppliers and the ways these companies are helping to sustain the planet for a better future.

Cosentino
Cosentino, leaders in sustainable design surfaces. Cosentino puts a focus on sustainability, with the vision of ‘we want to leave a maximum footprint on people and the minimum one on the planet.’ All of the sustainability strategies are guided by ESG criteria, ensuring sustainability through social, environmental and good governance commitment. Cosentino recycles 99% of the water used, works with recycled materials and takes great pride in promoting the efficient use of natural resources.

When it comes to specific products, the Dekton surface range is not only beautiful, technologically advanced and functional, but it is also the only Cradle-to-Grave carbon-neutral surface on the market. 100% of the CO2 emissions are offset over this product’s entire product life cycle. This, however, does not impact the quality of the product. Through decoding natural stone, Cosentino created the Technical Ultracompact Stone. Dekton is made up of more than 20 minerals extracted from nature, and through the use of exclusive technology, these mineral particles are bonded together, creating something that nature creates over thousands of years. Dekton is scratch, impact, water and stain resistant, it is resistant to extreme heat and temperature and its quality is not impacted by UV rays. All of these features make it the perfect material for a variety of applications.

V Zug
V-Zug, the premium Swiss kitchen and appliance company, understands how much of an impact its products can have on the planet. One in two Swiss households owns a V-Zug appliance, so how it runs as a company is extremely important to them. Its approach to sustainability is holistic – through an ecological, social and entrepreneurial level. As a company, it believes that sustainability isn’t just a fad, it’s something that is encompassed through all decision-making and daily work.

V-Zug develops appliances with the aim of being as efficient as possible. The company’s approach to CO2 emissions follows the mantra of ‘prevent – reduce – offset’, and production has been CO2-neutral since 2020.

With a focus on durability and quality, the projects that V-Zug undertake focus on safeguarding the future of the company for future generations.

These values can be seen in the practice in a variety of ways, including the care packages offered to customers. Customers can have their products covered under a guarantee for five or ten years, which includes the repair of any defects and any parts required to fix this. This enables their appliances to last longer and encourages the customer to fix products rather than dispose of them and repurchase them.

Another fantastic initiative is the ‘V-Forest’. As reforestation is one of the most effective ways to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, V-Zug wanted to use this method as a part of its carbon-neutral program. The forest was created via a partnership with the Ripa Gar Foundation and is located in the Perthshire region of Scotland.

Quooker
You may not think that having a boiling, chilled and sparkling water tap installed in your home has any benefits to the environment, but Quooker is in fact sustainable purchase. Customers are able to save water, and energy and reduce disposable plastics by having a Quooker tap installed in their homes.

By using a Quooker tap to dispense water, you get the exact amount of water required, instead of using a kettle where extra water is continually being unused or re-boiled, which wastes both water and energy. The water also only boils once it is leaving the tap, so it’s not continually boiling, which is another energy-saving feature.

As a business, sustainability is also at the forefront of Quooker’s values. In 2016, all of the Quooker premises were covered with 900 solar panels, supplying all the energy required. The company also recycles old products, and the products usually last between fifteen and twenty years.

Euromobil
Euromobil, is a brand that creates modern and quality kitchen furniture. Starting out as a family-run business Euromobil understands its responsibility towards future generations and supports environmental and social sustainability through its ways of working regularly.

In practice, this can be seen in the fact that Euromobil uses ecological panels made from reusing wood materials with low emissions. Additionally, all of the packaging used is 100% recyclable in order to reduce harmful emissions into the environment. Its production plant has also been fitted with a solar panel system which creates enough energy required for the indoor and outdoor lighting of the complex.
